Sikandar Movie Review – Simple Indian English
Director: A. R. Murugadoss
Sikandar Movie Story
Sikandar is about a man with a golden heart. Sanjay Rathod (Salman Khan) belongs to a royal family in Rajkot and is happily married to Saisri (Rashmika Mandanna). While traveling from Mumbai to Rajkot, he beats up a man, Arjun (Prateik Babbar), for misbehaving with a woman (Neha Iyer). But later, Sanjay finds out that Arjun is the son of the Home Minister (Sathyaraj).
The Home Minister becomes angry and orders a police officer, Prakash (Kishore), to trouble Sanjay. But since Sanjay is very popular in Rajkot for helping people, arresting him is not easy. Later, Sanjay’s life takes a shocking turn, and he has to shift to Mumbai. But Mumbai is also the Home Minister’s area, leading to more fights and challenges. What happens next forms the rest of the movie.
Sikandar Movie Review
A. R. Murugadoss’ story has great potential, but his screenplay is weak. The film has some good scenes, but many parts don’t make sense and feel too filmy. Some dialogues are good, but the movie needed more strong, whistle-worthy dialogues.
The first half of the movie is exciting, especially Salman Khan’s entry scene, which is well done and important to the story. But after this, the film loses its grip. Some scenes feel chopped and incomplete. The villain track is weak, and there should have been more face-to-face fights between the hero and villain.
Some scenes feel illogical, like when Arjun asks the cameraman to focus on Sanjay, or when a kid without a shirt sits outside after a lung transplant. Such moments will confuse the audience.
Sikandar Movie Performances
- Salman Khan looks stylish and plays a role that suits his ‘Being Human’ image. His fans will like him, but in some scenes, he seems a bit stiff.
- Rashmika Mandanna looks beautiful and is the heart of the film, but her screen time is very less.
- Sharman Joshi (Amar), Kishore, and Jatin Sarna (De Niro) do a good job.
- Sathyaraj (Home Minister) is not impressive.
- Prateik Babbar is loud, but it suits his role.
- Kajal Aggarwal (Vaidehi) is decent, but her track is complicated.
- Other actors like Sanjay Kapoor, Nawab Shah, and Anjini Dhawan don’t have much to do.
Music & Technical Aspects
- Pritam’s music is average. Only ‘Zohra Jabeen’ is catchy. The title song and other songs are forgettable.
- Santhosh Narayan’s background score is better and adds excitement.
- Cinematography by S Thirunavukarasu is okay.
- VFX by RedChillies is not up to the mark.
- Action scenes are well done.
- Production design is not very impressive.
- Costumes for Salman Khan (by Alvira Khan) are stylish. Rashmika’s costumes are glamorous, but her entry outfit is awkward.
- Editing by Vivek Harshan is weak and could have been much better.
Final Verdict
Sikandar tries to give a strong social message and presents Salman Khan in a massy role that his fans will love. However, the weak script and uneven storytelling affect the film’s impact.
At the box office, it will get a good start, especially because of the Eid holiday and no big competition. But to stay strong for a long time, the film needs good word of mouth.
