Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey’s latest Instagram post has created buzz, making fans think he might have announced his retirement from acting.

The star, whose film The Sabarmati Report is currently in theatres, shared an emotional post on Monday morning. In the post, he expressed gratitude for his journey, saying, “The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support.”

Vikrant reflected on his decision to step away from the limelight, writing, “As I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father, and Son.” He also mentioned that 2025 will be his final year in cinema for now. “Coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right,” he shared.

The actor, known for his sincerity and variety in roles, ended his message with a heartfelt note to fans: “Last 2 movies and many years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between.” The post was accompanied by folded hands and heart emojis.

Fans flooded the comments section with mixed emotions. One asked, “What!? Does this mean…,” while another pleaded, “Plz don’t stop working.! We love to watch u on screen… U r a super actor.” Another fan encouraged him, writing, “Go ahead. Fill your cup then be back.” Others wished him well, saying, “Wishing you all the very best… You are a gem. Stay safe and happy. We will miss you.”

Vikrant began his career on television with the show Dhoom Machao Dhoom and became a household name with Balika Vadhu in 2009. Later, he entered Bollywood with standout roles in films like Lootera and earned praise for his lead role in A Death in the Gunj (2017). Over the years, he has impressed audiences in movies like Chhapaak, Haseen Dillruba, and 12th Fail.

Just last week, Vikrant won the Personality of the Year award at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). While receiving the award, he talked about his love for “entertainment and inspiring cinema.”

Speaking at the closing ceremony, he shared, “I always try to work responsibly. Whether it is 12th Fail, Sector 36, or The Sabarmati Report, there is always an effort to entertain people while also being part of responsible cinema.” He added, “Cinema is a powerful medium, and many people take inspiration from it. While all kinds of films should be made, responsible cinema is thriving, and audiences are appreciating it.”

Though Vikrant has announced his break from acting, fans can still look forward to his final projects, set to release in 2025.
