Tollywood star Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13, 2024, in connection with a tragic stampede that took place during the premiere of his much-awaited film, Pushpa 2, on December 4. The stampede led to the death of a 39-year-old woman, Revathi, and left her 13-year-old son, Sri Tej, in critical condition.
The incident happened at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, where a large crowd gathered to see Allu Arjun, reportedly without prior notice to the police about the film team’s presence. Due to this, the police were not informed in advance to provide enough security. The situation became uncontrollable because of overcrowding and the lack of separate entry and exit points. As fans pushed forward to catch a glimpse of the actor, chaos erupted, causing the theatre’s main gate to collapse, which led to the stampede.
After the stampede, the authorities began an investigation, filing cases against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management. Deputy Commissioner of Police Akshansh Yadav confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) was filed under sections related to culpable homicide not amounting to murder and voluntarily causing hurt.

In response to the tragedy, Allu Arjun expressed deep sympathy for Revathi’s family and promised to help them. He announced a donation of Rs 25 lakh to support them during this difficult time and also said he would personally meet the family to offer his condolences.
In a strange turn, a report showed Allu Arjun smiling and drinking coffee while being arrested in connection with the stampede case.
The police had earlier arrested three people linked to the theatre, including one of its owners and a senior manager, as part of their investigation into the incident.
On December 12, Allu Arjun filed a petition in the Telangana High Court, asking for the FIR against him to be dismissed, denying any involvement in the wrongdoing. His team has also clarified that he has no political ambitions, following speculation after his recent statements during the Pushpa 2 promotions.
According to the latest report by India Today, Allu Arjun will undergo a medical check-up at Osmania Hospital before making an official statement to the police.
