Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna’s Pushpa 2: The Rule continues to dominate the box office, becoming the biggest Hindi film ever, surpassing Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2. It has also made history by becoming the first Hindi film to cross the Rs 600 crore mark.
After Zero’s disappointing performance, Shah Rukh Khan took a break from films. He returned with Pathaan, which became the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, earning Rs 524 crore. However, he broke his own record with his next film, Jawan, directed by Atlee, which earned Rs 582.31 crore, making it the biggest Hindi film at the time. This record was later broken by Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2, which earned Rs 597.99 crore. Now, Pushpa 2: The Rule, directed by Sukumar, has set a new record by earning Rs 607.35 crore at the Hindi box office by the end of its 14th day. On its 14th day alone, the film earned Rs 16.25 crore, crossing the Rs 600 crore mark.
The success of Pushpa 2 has spread rapidly at the box office, earning Rs 725 crore in the first week and adding Rs 257 crore in the next 6 days during its second weekend. Its total collection has now reached Rs 973.1 crore, and it needs another Rs 30 crore to become the highest-grossing Indian film, surpassing SS Rajamouli and Prabhas’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which earned Rs 1030 crore.
Trade analyst Komal Nahta explains that the difference between the Hindi and Telugu collections is mainly because of the capping on ticket prices in the Telugu region, while there are no such restrictions in the Hindi region. However, the film is being equally appreciated in both languages.
