Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, and Wamiqa Gabbi’s film ‘Baby John’ has been creating buzz since its announcement. There were many reasons for this hype – it is an official remake of the South hit film Theri, which was a huge success. People were excited to see Varun Dhawan’s massy style, Atlee’s brilliant direction, and more. But, unfortunately, the movie has not been able to meet these expectations. Even with a Christmas release, the film is struggling to cross the ₹30 crore mark.
‘Baby John’ Box Office Performance
As per a Sacnilk report, on its first Sunday (the 5th day of release), the movie earned around ₹4.75 crore, bringing its total Indian collection to ₹28.65 crore.

Storyline Summary:
John D’Silva (played by Varun Dhawan) is a bakery owner and a caring single father to his daughter Khushi (Zara Zyanna). Things take a turn when Khushi’s teacher, Tara (Wamiqa Gabbi), saves a girl from traffickers and unknowingly exposes John’s secret past. John, who was once DCP Satya Verma, now has to face his old enemy Nana (Jackie Shroff), who is out for revenge. When Khushi’s life is at risk, John must return to his action-filled past to protect her.
While the storyline had potential, critics feel it could not match the impact of the original Theri.
