Virat Kohli survived a golden duck after a contentious TV umpire decision ruled a catch invalid. The tense moment saw Rohit Sharma, watching from the dressing room, visibly relax once Kohli was declared not out.

The SCG Test brought its own share of excitement, just like the MCG Test, with a tense moment revolving around a controversial umpiring decision that favored India’s star batter, Virat Kohli. The thrilling incident happened in the 8th over when Kohli narrowly escaped getting out for a golden duck on his very first ball.
Scott Boland, who had already taken Yashasvi Jaiswal’s wicket earlier in the over, bowled a sharp delivery that took Kohli’s outside edge. The ball flew towards second slip, where Steve Smith dived to his right and scooped it towards Marnus Labuschagne at gully.
But when the replay was shown, it was clear that the ball had lightly touched the ground after brushing Smith’s fingers. This was noticed by the TV umpire, Joel Wilson, who declared Kohli not out.
In the Indian dressing room, all eyes were glued to the big screen. Rohit Sharma, who was not part of the playing XI, looked very anxious as the decision was being reviewed. Once the final call was made in Kohli’s favor, Rohit visibly relaxed and leaned back in his seat.
For context, Rohit Sharma scored 31 runs in five innings across the three Tests. Last year, he had successfully led India to a much-awaited T20 World Cup victory.
