Historic Weekend for Chhaava! VickyKaushal’s cinematic masterpiece crosses ₹100 crore at the box office by Day 3.

Date:

Vicky Kaushal, who started his career with the movie Masaan in 2015, has come a long way in the past ten years. He has played many underrated roles, polishing his kalā (art) and preparing himself for greatness. With Chhaava, he did the same! Released on February 14, his grand yuddha-katha (war story) Chhaava made ₹116.5 crore in its debut weekend.

Chhaava Movie Review

Directed by Laxman Utekar, the movie features Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, while Rashmika Mandanna plays his patni (wife), Yesubai. According to a report, after making the biggest shubharambh (opening) of 2025 with ₹31 crore on Friday, the movie earned ₹37 crore on Saturday, showing a strong 19.35% jump. Then on Sunday, as per early estimates, the movie saw another rise of more than 30%, collecting ₹48.5 crore on din 3 (day 3). This took the total collection to ₹116.5 crore within just three days of its pradarshan (theatrical release). These numbers are still estimates, so the final kamai (earnings) might be even higher.

The darshak sankhya (audience occupancy) was 50.39% on February 15 and 62.48% on February 16. The footfall recorded on Saturday was 32.91%, and on Sunday, it increased to 49.82%.

The dopahar (afternoon) shows had an occupancy of 47.06% on Saturday, which jumped to 67.46% on Sunday. Similarly, the shaam (evening) shows had 52.57% occupancy on day 2 and 72.95% on day 3. However, the raat (night) shows saw a dip, going from 69.02% to 59.68%.

Chhaava – A Story of Valor

Based on the book of the same title, Chhaava tells the story of one of India’s greatest veer yoddhas (brave warriors), Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. While it doesn’t cover his entire jeevan gatha (life story), it highlights key moments where he stood as a true soldier for swaraj (self-rule).

In addition to Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, the movie features Akshaye Khanna as the main prati-nayak (antagonist), playing the role of the Mughal samrat (emperor) Aurangzeb. The film also stars Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, Diana Penty, and Vineet Kumar Singh in important roles.

With its powerful storytelling and grand dṛshya (visuals), Chhaava is proving to be a blockbuster, bringing a legendary warrior’s story to the big screen in a truly bhavya (magnificent) way.
