Rohit Sharma-led Team India won the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 by defeating New Zealand in the final by four wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India played a solid all-round game to chase down 252 runs, winning the match with six balls to spare. With this victory, India lifted the Champions Trophy and took home a cash prize of $2.24 million (INR 19.45 crore).
IPL Players Earn More Than Champions Trophy Prize Money
The prize money for the Champions Trophy winners is quite low compared to the salaries of some Indian Premier League (IPL) players.
- Shreyas Iyer was bought by Punjab Kings for INR 26.75 crore.
- Rishabh Pant became the highest-paid player in IPL history when Lucknow Super Giants purchased him for INR 27 crore.
- Venkatesh Iyer was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for INR 23.75 crore and was also named the team’s vice-captain.

- New Zealand (Runners-up) – $1.12 million (INR 9.72 crore)
- Australia & South Africa (Semi-finalists) – $560,000 each (INR 4.86 crore each)
- Afghanistan & Bangladesh (5th & 6th place) – $350,000 each (INR 3.04 crore each)
- Pakistan & England (7th & 8th place) – $140,000 each (INR 1.21 crore each)
Each win in the group stage was worth $34,000 (INR 29.5 lakh), while every participating team was guaranteed at least $125,000 (INR 1.08 crore).
The total prize pool of the 2025 Champions Trophy was $6.9 million (INR 59.9 crore), which is 53% more than the 2017 edition.
How Did the Final Match Unfold?
In the final, New Zealand won the toss and chose to bat first. Daryl Mitchell played a strong innings, scoring 63 runs, helping the BlackCaps reach 251/7 in 50 overs.
For India, spinners Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each, controlling the Kiwi batting lineup.
In the chase, India captain Rohit Sharma played a fantastic knock of 76 runs, putting India in a strong position. However, after the quick wickets of Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, the game became tense.
