Jasprit Bumrah achieves a historic milestone, becoming India’s top wicket-taker on Australian soil!

On Wednesday, Jasprit Bumrah created history by becoming India’s top Test wicket-taker in Australia. He broke Kapil Dev’s previous record of 51 wickets during the second session on the last day of the ongoing third Test at the Gabba.

Bumrah made a big impact in the second innings, first clean-bowling Usman Khawaja (8) and then dismissing Marnus Labuschagne, who edged the ball to Rishabh Pant in the next over.

Bumrah now has 52 wickets in just 10 Tests in Australia, while Kapil Dev had taken 51 wickets in 11 Tests on Australian grounds.

On the other hand, Australian spinner Nathan Lyon is the highest wicket-taker in Test matches between India and Australia, with 63 wickets in 18 Tests played in Australia.

Bumrah, who is currently ranked as the top Test bowler, took six wickets for 76 runs in the first innings of the Brisbane Test. By picking up his sixth wicket of the match on Monday, he went past Ishant Sharma’s record of 130 wickets to become India’s most successful fast bowler in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) countries.

Ishant, who last played for India in 2021, took 130 wickets in 41 Tests, including 31 in 13 Tests in Australia and 51 in 15 Tests in England. He also took 28 wickets in six Tests in New Zealand and 20 wickets in seven Tests in South Africa.

Anil Kumble continues to hold the top spot with 141 wickets in 35 Tests in SENA countries during his career.
