
After his match-winning spell against Australia in the first Test at Perth, India’s pace star Jasprit Bumrah reclaimed the top spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings on Wednesday. He surpassed Kagiso Rabada and Josh Hazlewood.
India defeated Australia by 295 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Stand-in captain Bumrah delivered an outstanding performance, taking 8 wickets for 72 runs in the match.
Before the Perth Test, Bumrah was ranked third. He now has a career-best 883 ranking points, overtaking Australia’s Hazlewood (860 points) and South Africa’s Rabada (872 points).
India’s pacer Mohammed Siraj also improved his ranking, moving up three spots to 25th after taking five wickets in the match.
In batting, Yashasvi Jaiswal shone with a brilliant 161 and jumped to second place in the batters’ rankings with a career-best 825 points, just behind England’s Joe Root (903 points).
Star batsman Virat Kohli climbed nine spots to 13th place after scoring his 30th Test century, continuing his rise in the rankings.
India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant maintained his sixth position with 736 points.
Although they did not play in the Perth Test, Indian all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin remain at the top of the Test all-rounders list.
