Pushpa 2 Box Office Success and Focus on Game Changer
As Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 – The Rule continues to dominate the box office worldwide, all eyes are now on Ram Charan’s upcoming film Game Changer. This marks his first release after the massive success of RRR. Directed by Shankar, this political action-thriller also stars Kiara Advani and SJ Suryah. The much-awaited film is set to release in theatres on January 10.
Advance Bookings in the US
While advance bookings have not yet started in India, tickets are already being sold in the United States. Since Game Changer is mainly a Telugu movie, trade experts believe it will get a good number of screens. The film’s US collections are showing steady growth. In just two days, the collections have jumped from $22,000 (Rs 19 lakh) to $60,000 (Rs 51 lakh), with ticket sales increasing from 750 to 2,150
Compared to other major Telugu films like Pushpa 2, Kalki 2898 AD, and Devara, Game Changer is currently trailing behind. Industry experts expect that the release of the movie’s trailer will boost audience interest and help improve its box office performance.
Game Changer is also significant for Shankar as it marks his first release after the mixed response to Indian 2. The sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Indian starring Kamal Haasan, Indian 2 performed decently at the box office but could not recover its massive budget. Due to this, rumors suggest that Indian 3 might have a direct OTT release. However, a strong performance by Game Changer could change this situation for the director.
Production Delays and New Release Date
The movie has faced multiple delays during production. Initially, Shankar was busy shooting for Indian 2 with Kamal Haasan. Game Changer was originally scheduled for a Christmas release, but in October, the makers announced that they could not release the film in December as some portions were still pending. The new release date was later confirmed as January 10.
