Excitement Builds for Ram Charan and Shankar’s Game Changer as Release Nears
The excitement around Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna’s latest film Pushpa 2 – The Rule is slowly fading, and now all eyes are on Ram Charan and Shankar’s highly anticipated film Game Changer. This political thriller marks Ram Charan’s first film as the solo hero in five years and is his first release since the Oscar-winning RRR with SS Rajamouli and NTR Jr. With just three days to go before its release, the movie also stars Kiara Advani and SJ Suryah.
Since the trailer was released a few days ago, the film’s pre-release collections have been growing rapidly. The film has already been picked up by AMC, one of the largest cinema chains in the United States, which is expected to boost its collections even more. Trade experts believe the movie will easily cross the $1 million mark in collections before the premiere shows even start. So far, Game Changer has earned $625,000 (₹5.35 crore) in North America, with $575,000 from the U.S. and the rest from Canadian theaters.
Advance booking for the film in India started today, and tickets worth ₹65 lakh, including bulk bookings, have already been sold. By the end of the day, the film is expected to have made a couple of crores in advance sales.
However, the film faced a small problem in Tamil Nadu. Lyca Productions, the production house behind the film, reached out to the Tamil Producers Council, asking them to delay the release. Lyca reportedly wants director Shankar to finish and release Indian 3 first. Despite this, sources suggest that Game Changer will still be released smoothly in the state.
Game Changer is Shankar’s first film since the underwhelming performance of Indian 2, the sequel to the 1997 hit Indian starring Kamal Haasan. While Indian 2 did okay at the box office, it didn’t live up to the huge investment put into it. This has led to rumors that Indian 3 might be released directly on OTT platforms. However, Shankar is hopeful that Game Changer will succeed and help Indian 3 get a theatrical release.
