Samantha Ruth Prabhu, in a recent interview, opened up about what she looks for while signing new projects. She is set to appear in Rakht Brahmand soon.

Samantha’s Thoughts on Signing Fewer Tamil Films
Samantha, who became famous for playing simple and relatable roles, is now very selective about the films she chooses. Talking to News18, she explained why she hasn’t been signing many Tamil films lately. Her last Tamil movie was Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal (2022) directed by Vignesh Shivan. She shared, “It’s easy to do many films, yes. But I feel like I’m at a stage in life where every film should feel as important as the last one. It should have a big impact. If I don’t believe in a project completely, I cannot say yes to it.”
Working with Raj & DK
Samantha expressed her excitement about working with Raj & DK again for Rakht Brahmand. She said, “With The Family Man (Season 2), I got to do something I had never done before. The same happened with Citadel: Honey Bunny. Now with Rakht Brahmand, I feel challenged again. Raj & DK have spoiled me because they always push me to take up unique and fulfilling roles. I enjoy giving my all to a role every single day. If a project doesn’t give me that feeling, I don’t want to do it.”
She also added that she no longer wants to “let herself or anyone else down” with her choices.
Her Recent Work
Samantha reduced her workload after facing difficult times in her personal life. She went through a divorce from Naga Chaitanya in 2021 and revealed in 2022 that she was diagnosed with myositis, an autoimmune disorder. In 2023, she acted in Telugu movies like Shaakuntalam and Kushi, but neither was successful. In 2024, Citadel: Honey Bunny was released. Besides Rakht Brahmand, she hasn’t announced any new projects yet.
Samantha’s journey shows her focus on meaningful and challenging roles that truly inspire her.
